Larchmont Dermatology uses advanced laser treatments to address an array of dermatology issues including acne scarring, wrinkles, and tone or texture irregularities. Larchmont Dermatology is the first dermatology practice in New York to offer UltraClear™ the latest innovation in skin resurfacing.

  • Lasers have a number of applications in dermatology. They are useful in disease treatment, disease prevention, and also have cosmetic applications. Some of the most common dermatological laser procedures provide:

    • Skin resurfacing to smooth uneven tone and texture, reduce or eliminate signs of aging and sun damage, and improve the way your skin looks and feels

    • Reduction or elimination of discolorations, including age spots and sun spots

    • Hair removal for better and more precise results than traditional techniques

    • Treatment of acne scars and other scarring

  • Lasers emit intense beams of energy that can be focused on very tiny areas for the most precise results possible.

    The heat of the laser energy causes controlled damage that can destroy follicles to prevent hair growth, promote and stimulate natural skin healing, break apart scar tissue, or tone and tighten your skin. The laser energy wavelength can be adjusted to direct it at different layers of skin where various types of damage or issues occur.

    Lasers are noninvasive, so there are no incisions, blood, sutures, or needles involved. This shortens your healing time so you can enjoy your results sooner. Usually, you can go right back to your daily activities after a laser session. Finally, for the comfort of our patients, we do offer the option of Pronox analgesia (nitrous oxide) to ease any pain and anxiety.

ULTRACLEAR™ LASER

UltraClear™ is the first major innovation in laser resurfacing in decades. Utilizing the latest advancements in fiber laser technology, UltraClear delivers fractionated ablative sub-pulses for optimal skin rejuvenation. Addressing facial aging concerns such as sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring and other scars, UltraClear creates microchannels triggering natural exfoliation and stimulating collagen without excessive bulk heating. The result: quicker, more comfortable, precise treatments with less downtime, quicker healing, more dramatic results, and increased safety for skin of color.

UltraClear Customized Treatment

Using deeper modes in areas where fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars are present does mean your dermis may be exposed, resulting in 2-3 days of social downtime. Aquaphor may be recommended as a barrier cream for a few days to protect your skin as it heals. There may be swelling or pinpoint bleeding in areas that are treated more deeply but, compared to other resurfacing devices, the downtime is minimal.

3D MIRACL

Because the treatment is so superficial in the uppermost layer of skin, there is no dermal exposure. Medically, we would say there is no downtime, however, your face may appear red, slightly swollen, and warm post procedure.

  • 3D MIRACL is a treatment performed with the UltraClear™ device treating very superficially in the uppermost layer of skin. This treatment is fast, comfortable and triggers natural exfoliation that typically occurs 2-3 days post procedure. Normally done in a series of 3-6 treatments, patients typically experience noticeable change after a single treatment.

  • UltraClear is an incredibly versatile skin solution for anyone looking to rejuvenate skin, address sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, and scars, or remodel collagen. FDA-cleared for all skin types, UltraClear offers safe skin solutions for skin of color.

  • Depending on your goals, your provider may recommend a series of 3DMIRACL treatments for the skin OR a combination approach utilizing multiple UltraClear modes to address deeper lines, wrinkles, and scars.

    Nothing is “one-and-done,” but since UltraClear offers a better laser experience for patients, it is an easy skin solution to incorporate into your skin care plan.

  • It is recommended to stay out of the sun 3-4 weeks both pre and post-treatment. Treating tanned skin with a laser is never recommended and can result in unexpected side effects. Your provider may also recommend stopping use of exfoliating products 1 week prior to treatment to ensure your skin is not overly sensitive. Hydrate and keep your skin protected with SPF 30+ daily.

  • Each patient’s post-treatment skin response varies greatly. Some patients feel nothing except a slight warm feeling, while others report more of an intense "sunburn sensation.” Either way, this heat sensation will resolve in due time and fans and cool packs can be used to assist in the process.

  • Every patient should expect some downtime and should schedule the procedure with that in mind.

Ellipse (IPL)

DERMAPLANING

Advance exfoliation for smoother, brighter, healthier looking skin for all skin types and tones. Dermaplaning is a professional exfoliation and surface hair removal treatment that encourages skin cell renewal and leaves the face looking refreshed and more youthful. Results are both instant and cumulative. Dermaplaning exfoliates 2-3 weeks of dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz), revealing an instantly brighter, smoother complexion and helps skincare products work more effectively. Dermaplaning delivers immediate results with no downtime. Over time, cumulative results from regular dermaplaning treatments include improvement in appearance of fine wrinkles, skin texture, dull skin, and pigment.

Gentlelase Hair Removal

The GentleLase laser hair removal system uses an Alexandrite laser, which is a type of laser that emits a specific wavelength of light that is highly effective for targeting and removing unwanted hair. The Alexandrite laser is known for its precision and ability to safely and efficiently treat a variety of skin types. The GentleLase laser emits a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles, damaging them and inhibiting future hair growth.

  • Individuals with light to medium skin tones and dark hair are good candidates for GentleLase hair removal. The Alexandrite laser used in GentleLase treatment is most effective at targeting the pigment in dark hair follicles, so those with lighter skin and darker hair tend to see the best results. Exilis Ultra Skin Tightening

  • After an Exilis treatment, you may experience some mild redness, swelling, or warmth in the treated area, which usually subsides within a few hours to a few days. Some individuals may also notice temporary changes in skin texture or sensitivity. It is common to see gradual improvements in skin tightness and contouring over the following weeks as collagen production is stimulated.

DerMa v

The DermaV is a state-of-the-art dual wavelength 532nm/1064nm laser that can safely and effectively treat a wide variety of vascular and pigmentary conditions, eliminating unwanted red and brown on the face and body.
DermaV is proven to treat a wide range of vascular conditions, including rosacea, facial veins, “broken” blood vessels and spider veins on the body and legs. Age spots, freckles, birthmarks and other types of benign pigmented lesions can occur naturally all over the body. DermaV is proven to help reduce the appearance of unwanted pigment in most patient skin tones. Vascular lesions and pigmented lesions can arise from natural sources including sun damage, genetics and the aging process. 

For blood vessels, DermaV applies laser energy that is absorbed by your blood vessels and converted to heat, which contracts the vessel to help reduce its appearance near the skin surface, thus reducing redness.

For pigment, using controlled heating, the DermaV laser energy targets unwanted, visible brown pigment while protecting the top layers of your skin with specialized skin cooling technology for increased safety.

  • You may experience mild discomfort in the form of stinging sensation during the treatment, which will vary depending on the condition of your skin and the area being treated. Your provider will work with you to ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible.

  • Depending on the size and area to be treated, your session could last from 5-20 minutes.

  • You may experience mild redness and puffiness immediately following the laser treatment, but you should be able to return to normal activities right away. You can apply light makeup if desired. SkinPen Microneedling
